The Governor General of Canada represents the head of State, Her Majesty the Queen of Canada.
The Governor General also represents Canadians abroad when conducting State visits at the request of the Prime Minister's Office. The Governor General performs most of the Queen's functions in Canada, and celebrates the excellence of Canadians as the Chancellor of the Order of Canada, and through the leadership of the Canadian honours system.
The Governor General is the Queen's representative.
