Electronegativity: is the ability of an atom to attract the bonding electrons in a covalent bond fluorine is the most electronegative element on the Periodic Table, and francium is the least, the reasons for this are fairly simple: The factor which affect electro negativity are similar to that of ionisation energy, if you are not familiar with this then here they are - nuclear charge; the greater the charge of the nucleus the more strongly the electrons are held towards the nucleus, thus increasing elecrtonegativity - shielding by inner electrons; the greater the number of shells between the outer electron shell and nucleus the less positive attraction will be 'felt' by the outer electron, as a result the elecrtonegativity decreases - and distance between nucleus and outer electron shell; attraction falls greatly as distance increases between outer electron shell and nucleus as a result as distance increase the elecrtonegativity of the element decreases. As fluorine has a small atoms the closer the nucleus is to the shared outer shell of electrons, so the more its will attract the bonding electrons in a covalent bond. Francium is the least as it has the most shells of the group 1 elements along with the greatest number of electrons, as a result both distance and shielding have been increase causing eleconegativity to decrease significantly.

Which element is the reference element is chemistry?

Carbon is the reference element for the definition of the mole. In electrochemistry, the reference element/electrode is the Hydrogen electrode and all electrode potentials are against the hydrogen standard.

The negative electrode in a common flashlight battery is typically made of zinc.

What does electro negativity of an element indicate?

How much an element is attracted to receiving valance electrons. The more electronegative, the more it needs electrons.

What elements has the highest electronagativity?

The element with the highest electro negativity is Fluorine. The general trend on the periodic table for electro negativity is that as you go across periods (horizontally) the electro negativity increases while going down groups (vertically) the electro negativity decreases.

The element that has the greatest electromagnetivity is?

The element that has the greatest electromagnetivity is Flourine, F, with 3.98.

Which element means evil spirit?

The element associated with evil spirits is typically "Darkness" in various mythologies and belief systems. This element is often portrayed as representing malevolence, negativity, and the unknown.

What type of electrode is a cold cathode?

Cold cathode is a cathode, an electrode that emits electrons, which is not electrically heated by an element. Cold cathodes are used in gas discharge lamps such as neon lamps and discharge tubes.

What element is in center electron post of a battery?

We find carbon or graphite as the center electrode of a zinc-carbon battery. It's the "common" battery we use in lots of stuff (but not an alkaline battery). That center electrode is the positive one, and the zinc makes up the outer or negative electrode in this battery. In an alkaline battery, manganese dioxide is the center, or the cathode (positive electrode). Powdered zinc will be found as the outer or negative electrode (anode).

Which element is produced at the negative electrode (cathode)?

The element forming at the cathode will depend on what elements are present. Reduction takes place at the cathode, so whatever element is being reduced, that is the one that will be produced at the cathode.
