In You Only Live Twice, Agent 007 does not die, but fake his death in order to fool the spy killing agency SPECTRE, or SMERSH - and in order for him to disguise his appearance as a Japanese and infiltrate the Volcano Layer of Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
In the Book, 007 gets plastic surgery to make him look Asian, while in the Movie, Sean Connery is just spruced up to look Asian with out going under a knife.
It is never revealed in the film exactly how he fakes his death.

∙ 14y agoNo. They will probably never kill James Bond, and just get other actors to replace him. Why? James Bond is a huge money franchise. If you kill James Bond, you end the storyline, and the money dries up. I bet that they will just keep replacing him with other actors. Quantum of Solace was his latest movie, and, as far as I know, he didn't die.
