The person that answer this question while is correct that lying is awful especially to people that trust you... (remember: Trust is like an eraser... each time you use it it gets smaller and smaller).. however, it is highly unlikely you will go to jail.
There are long term consequences to lying and the biggest one is breaking of trust. Parents want to trust you... and as long as you give them no reason to not trust you.. generally they will.

you need to respect them. they give you food they give you clothes they give you shelter etc i love and respect my parents have about you
