Well, actually most people said the Sahara, but actually it is just a plateau, the plateau has no name, Geographers sometimes refer to Africa--the world's second largest continent-- as the "Plateau Continent", also to add that the Sahara is 3,000 miles across the continent from the Atlantic Sea to the Red Sea, and also runs 1,200 miles from the North to South. The Sahara runs across 3 Basins, which last to i check Basins are NOT HIGHLAND.

The dominant landform in Africa is desert, close to savanna, or tropical grasslands. there are very few mountains though( only the atlas mountains near gibralter and Spain)
