New Zealand and its several islands are mainly bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the east, but the main three islands have the Tasman Sea on their west.

The Antipodes Island, of volcanic origin, are considered antipodean to London, (but are actually to part of France) but are still in the Pacific Ocean.

A shard of early Polynesian pottery (Lapita?) has been found on the Antipodes islands, indicating that this remote and southerly land was visited by those early voyagers.
