A fossil desert is an area that was a desert in the prehistoric past, in some cases over 500 million years ago. An example would be the sandhill region of central Nebraska where there is a vast area of stabilized sand dunes. The region now receives double the rainfall (500 mm) of a true desert (250 mm).

How do you get a armaldo in Pokemon pearl?

Get the claw fossil from Mirage Tower in the desert. Go to the second floor of the Devon building. One of the people will revive the fossil. Go outside and come back in to claim your Anorith. Get it to level 40 and... CONGRATULATIONS! Your Anorith has evolved into Armaldo! If you get the root fossil... you can't get the other in Ruby so...sorry.

Where do you get fossils in SoulSilver?

In Pokémon Emerald, you can choose between the Root Fossil (the fossil of Lileep) and the Claw Fossil (the fossil of Anorith). You can get one of these fossils once you got the Go-Goggles (after you got your fourth badge, you will get it automatically from May/Brendan). Then, go to the Desert on Route 111. Sometimes, the Mirage Tower will show up near the southern entrance of the Desert. There are some special paths in the Mirage Towers, and you'll need a Mach Bike to be able to get past those. But once you're at the top-floor of the Tower, you can choose either one of the Fossils. You can get the other Fossil once you've beaten the Pokémon League. Go to Fallarbor Town, to the house of the Fossil Maniac (the house where you got the TM Dig). Go to the back of the house. Where once the Fossil Maniac was digging, an entrance has appeared to the Desert Underpass. At the eastern end of the Desert Underpass, you will find the other fossil.

How do sea shells end up in the desert?

Most of the shells found in a desert are fossil evidence that the area was once part of a sea. Some shells were brought by natives who picked them up in trade from other tribes that lived along the coast. They were frequently used to make jewelry.
