Why are Jon and Kate Gosselin famous?

The Gosselin's are famous for their high profile sextuplet pregnancy and the subsequent healthy birth of their offspring. Their fame grew as the continued to capture the imagination (and eventually the ire) of people in their community. All this attention led to their much publicized specials, and reality show on The Learning Channel (TLC). Initially the film efforts brought the family some fun experiences, and modest funds which helped the family with much needed necessities. As time went on, the nation began to experience the same conflicting feelings about the Gosselins that their community had already gone through. Of course, this couple needs help.. but did they really need to be so arrogant about it? This dichotomy drew fire, and more viewers to the show.. which was eventually extended to 2,3,4 and finally 5 seasons over 2.8 years. The final episode of 'Jon and Kate plus 8' was broadcast on November 23, 2009. Both Jon and Kate Gosselin continue to attract attention from gossip mongers, paparazzi, and naturally curious fans.

What foreign policies did the federalist administrations face in 1789-1800?

The Federalist Party, or at the very least its preceding policies and leaders, were in charge of the American federal government in its initial years. This meant that leaders like George Washington and John Adams were able to leave their mark early on how the presidency and cabinet would deal with foreign policy. The first major [http://www.associatedcontent.com/topic/17787/foreign_policy.html foreign policy] issue that the nation had to deal with was what to do in dealing with the French during their own revolution, beginning in 1789. Americans had initial sympathy for the Revolution, which held similar beliefs in democratic institutions to their own revolution. However, Americans (even Democratic-Republicans, who were largely connected with French leaders) lost sympathy as the revolution progressed into the Reign of Terror and a dictatorial government antithetical to American ideals of democratic rule. While the Federalists saw the Revolution as proof of the downfall of republican government and mourned the rise of "mob rule," the Democratic-Republicans saw the French Revolution as a more radicalized child of the successful American Revolution. However, both parties realized that the nation was too weakened and incapable of providing material support and remained neutral during the Revolution. During the 1790s, the Federalist [http://www.associatedcontent.com/topic/17787/foreign_policy.html foreign policy] was unstable at best. The pressures applied on the British from the north and from the west (many British soldiers had not yet left bases in the Ohio Valley) were coupled by the problems of dealing with the French in the Carribean. The 1794 Jay Treaty attempted to remedy problems with the British, but limited concessions were made to the United States while the British still held economic control over their former colonies. John Jay became persona non grata in the American government because many felt he had sold out American interests, but he did not have a good bargaining position and did a decent job considering his position. Meanwhile, the French were presenting troubles in the West Indies and the Adams administration had to deal with scandal and a poor defensive system. The XYZ Affair, which involved three American delegates being refused diplomatic recognition by the French without a "loan," showed the weakness of American standing in Europe. No matter how great the leader in the executive branch or how strong the will of Congress, there was little recourse in dealing with stronger European nations until the mid-1810s. However, the Federalists left a stronger nation when they lost the executive branch in the 1800 federal election. The Adams administration was active in 1798 in creating a stronger defensive network, including a stronger military, leadership training, and the suppression of revolution and treason within the American public. The Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 increased the requirements for [http://www.associatedcontent.com/topic/111712/us_citizenship.html citizenship] and made unlawful opposition to federal law, insurrection, certain assemblies, and libel against the government. While the acts were controversial then and raised the ire of a great many civil libertarians, it was effective in raising the debate of how the nation could strengthen its borders and its defenses. As well, Adams sent delegates to France to relieve tensions with the Bonapartists, which ended with a return to reasonable relations, nullified previous agreements to create more favorable agreements all around, and made possible the 1803 acquisition of the Louisiana Territory. While the Federalists were unable to make peace and strong borders in their decade in power, they were able to set the table for future prosperity in America. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/27604/the_federalist_foreign_policy_for_america.html?cat=

What is the former name of India Pakistan Ireland and Australia back when the british empire ruled?

Australia: : Originally from Latin terra australis incognita - "unknown southern land". Early European explorers, sensing that the Australian landmass far exceeded in size what they had already mapped, gave the area a generic descriptive name. The explorer Matthew Flinders (1774 - 1814), the first to sail around and chart the Australian coast, used the term "Australia" in his 1814 publication A Voyage to Terra Australis. Previous Dutch explorers had referred to the continent as Australisch and as "Hollandia Nova" (New Holland). From the introduction in Flinders' book: : :: "There is no probability, that any other detached body of land, of nearly equal extent, will ever be found in a more southern latitude; the name Terra Australis will, therefore, remain descriptive of the geographical importance of this country, and of its situation on the globe: it has antiquity to recommend it; and, having no reference to either of the two claiming nations, appears to be less objectionable than any other which could have been selected.*"[2] : ...with the accompanying note at the bottom of the page: : :: "* Had I permitted myself any innovation upon the original term, it would have been to convert it into AUSTRALIA; as being more agreeable to the ear, and an assimilation to the names of the other great portions of the earth."[3] India: : Main article: Origin of India's name : Derived from the original name Sindhu of the Indus River in modern-day Pakistan, which gave its name to the land of Sind. People later applied derivations of the Persian form of this name, Hind, to all of modern Pakistan and India. : :* Bharat (Sanskrit name): Popular accounts derive "Bharat" from the name of either of two ancient kings named Bharata. :* Hindustan (Hindi Name): The name Hind is derived from a a Persian pronunciation of Sind. The Persian -stān means country or land (cognate to Sanskrit sthāna "place, land").India is called al-Hind الهند in the Arabic language, and sometimes in Persian. (e.g. in the 11th century Tarik Al-Hind "history of India") and Hind هند in Persian. It also occurs intermittently in usage within India, such as in the phrase Jai Hind. The terms Hind and Hindustan were current in Persian and Arabic from the 11th century Islamic conquests: the rulers in the Sultanate and Mughal periods called their Indian dominion, centred around Delhi, Hindustan. Ireland: : After Éire from Proto-Celtic *Īweriū "the fertile place" or "Place of Éire (Eriu)" a Celtic fertility goddess. Often mistakenly derived as "Land of Iron", or from a reflex of Proto-Indo-European *arya, or from variations of the Irish word for west (modern Irish iar, iarthar). :* Hibernia (ancient name and Latin variant): apparently assimilated to Latin hibernus (wintry). :* Ireland is known as Eirinn in Scottish Gaelic, from a grammatical case of Éire. In fellow Celtic language Welsh it is Iwerddon, in Cornish it is Ywerdhon or Worthen and in Breton it is Iwerzhon. :* In Gaelic bardic tradition Ireland is also known by the poetical names of Banbha (meaning piglet) and Fódhla. In Gaelic myth, Ériu, Banbha and Fódla were three goddesses who greeted the Milesians upon their arrival in Ireland, and who granted them custodianship of the island. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_country_name_etymologies

Why does kagome like inuyasha?

Its because Inuyasha's a stubborn stupid dog to like any else other than kagome. He likes that fact that she is confident and happy, it balances his depressive tendencies. He likes that she is kind and gentle, but also comes with a fiery temper that he greatly enjoys stoking. He learns from her, how to feel affection and show that affection for other people, etc., and he is incredibly grateful to her for that. His mother was the only person to love him for him, and so, when Kagome proves again and again that she loves all of him, it touches him. He also greatly appreciates that she never made him choose between her and Kikyo, that she truly only wanted him to be happy, no matter what it did to her. And of course it didn't hurt that he found her very sexy :)
