Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival (DPIFF) is an annual film festival. It was founded in 2012 by Anil Mishra and led by Abhishek Mishra - CEO, DPIFF is named after Dadasaheb Phalke, known as the Father of Indian Cinema. DPIFF has two segments which confer awards, Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards given to the Bollywood industry, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards South for the South Indian film industry.
In 2019, DPIFF started Dadasaheb Phalke Awards South for the South Indian film industry. The award function celebrates the brilliance of the Indian film industry, which is making an effort to acknowledge as well as aid nascent projects by bringing them to mainstream audiences.
This award differs from the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which is presented annually at the National Film Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,Government of India.
In the recent DPIFF Awards 2020, Hrithik Roshan was Honoured with Best Actor Award for Super 30 (film).
Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is the most awaiting award ceremony of India. It has two venture, one in Mumbai and the other in South for the South Indian Film Industry. It is different from the Dadasaheb Phalke Award which is held and executed by the National Film Awards under the guidance of Ministry of I&B, Government of India. But, the initiative carried by Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival is under the guidance of PMO and the grandson of Dadasaheb Phalke Ji. The Grandson of Dadasaheb Phalke Ji wish to continue the legacy of his grandfather and want the world to remember the Father of Indian Cinema.
