No because the Xbox 360 was out for a longer time than PlayStation 3. It is estimated that PlayStation 3 will overtake Xbox 360 by the end of the year though. PlayStation 3 is the better console, but use to cost a lot more. Now they are both the same price.

That's strange I think they both sold close to 50 million why isn't the number higher. More than one person can play a PS3 or Xbox so the number should be about 100 million for both, just calculating an answer

∙ 12y agoSony is more than just the PlayStation division and Microsoft sales are much greater than those from Xbox 360.
Sony sold the PS3 at a loss for the first couple of years after it's 2006 release.
The PlayStation Store was shutdown for April 20 2011 until June 2 2011 and they not only did a major hardware replacement, but even the facilities were replaced. When they came back online besides having lost the revenue while the PlayStation Store was shutdown the Welcome Back Customer Appreciation program has also been run at a loss
The PS3 console is selling more than the Xbox 360 and should pass them in total sales of consoles next year.

∙ 11y agoBoth have sold over 60 million consoles . The Xbox 360 has sold more of the consoles in the USA and the PS3 sales outside the USA are higher than Xbox 360. The PS3 has been selling only 5.5 years to the Xbox 360 6.5 years. The PS3 console Total Console Worldwide Sales is a few million less than Xbox 360.
