He is a Dogue De Bordeaux or a french mastiff!! they range from 115 to over 150 depending on breeder and family size!! they are great dogs I have a male that i actually got at the humane society and hes great!! great home protector and kid friendly!!! my plays with my son my nieces and nephews!! he even lets my friends baby crawl all over him and he doesnt move!! they are also normal pretty expensive, one of the most expensive dogs!! if you wnat to add one to the family its a great idea youll never want another kind of dog!! my husband used to be a more pitbull type of person and when we got our dog also named Hooch he has decided to be a french mastiff type of guy!! lol!!!

Very sadly, yes, Hooch does die. I was saddened too - what a beautiful film! However ... At the end, it shows Turner's new partner, the veternarian, with lots of puppies that look like her dog, Camille. "He's upstairs." She says in reply to Turner's question, then kisses him briefly before he goes upstairs. Turner repeats the rules as he walks to his bedroom - the rules he told dear Hooch. And then, as he opens his bedroom door, it reveals a mess everywhere. He walks towards the wardrobe, opens it and ... there's a mini Bordeaux de Dogue there, chewing a shoe - Hooch's PUPPY!
