Imagine- Usually a short fanfiction.
One Shot- A "one chapter" fanfiction. A short story.
Preference- With One Direction, this usually means a sentance or two about what each of the boys would do in a certain situation; eg. "The first I love you".
Fanfiction- A long or ongoing story that does in depth with the characters and plots. Like a book.
