The film is about two college-aged men who strangle a fellow student and hide his body in their apartment. They commit the murder for no other reason than they want to commit the perfect crime and see if they can get away with it. The case is based on the real life case of Leopold and Loeb who murdered a young boy in 1924.

At the time the film was released in 1948, it was banned in several American cities because it implied homosexuality between the two main characters.

Technically it doesn't matter. The length of a rope has no impact upon its breaking point and its strength. How the rope is anchored and any knots used is most important and usually will be responsible for the breaking point.
