The film is about two college-aged men who strangle a fellow student and hide his body in their apartment. They commit the murder for no other reason than they want to commit the perfect crime and see if they can get away with it. The case is based on the real life case of Leopold and Loeb who murdered a young boy in 1924.
At the time the film was released in 1948, it was banned in several American cities because it implied homosexuality between the two main characters.
