It depends upon the state, the type of contract and if fraudulent information was used to obtain goods, services, money or property by use of the lending agreement. ---- In general, contracts signed by minors are unenforceable against the minor. In most states, anyone under 18 is considered a "minor." However, the minor can seek enforcement of the contract against the other party.

There are exceptions, however. For example, if the minor is legally emancipated, any contract they enter is enforceable. Also, contracts by minors for the purchase of necessities for life (food, clothing, shelter, etc.) are enforceable, because, as a matter of public policy, we want minors to be able to obtain those things when they need to, and people would be reluctant to sell those things to minors if their contracts couldn't be enforced.

As for employment contracts, I would guess (but I'm not 100% sure), that the state and Federal Laws regulating the employment of minors would govern. If the minor is legally allowed to be employed in a particular job, I think any contracts directly related to their employment should also be enforceable.

If a teenager bought a used car and the dealer did not disclose the car had been previously wrecked can she return it after 60 days?

If your daughter is under the age of eighteen, the contract is null and void, as no adult can make a contract with a minor that's binding. Even in the tougher states, the contract is considered to be tentative at best, assuming that the minor will not follow through. If your daughter is eighteen or older, the dealer is still on the hook for falsely representing the vehicle. However, depending on your state laws, you may have to pursue the matter civilly, filing suit to recoup the money and return the car. If you do that, DO NOT drive the vehicle or modify it in any way. A call to your local police station should also answer a lot of questions for you.

Can a minor buy a car with a companion?

It is illegal to sell a minor a vehicle without the parent or legal gaurdian on the deal as well. It is not illegal to buy a car if you are a minor. A minor has the right to enter into a contract (both verbal and written) for anything. However the minor may set aside the whole and not part of the contract before they reach the age of majority. The adult who makes the contract is bound to the contract terms. The only exception is if the minor enters into a contract for an item of necessity to minor's subsistence. Such examples are food and housing. The last question is to determine if a car is a necessity to a minor

Why should you avoid kid-bids in on-line auctions?

Kid-bids online, just as in the natural world, can be recinded. A minor, under the age of 18, may disaffirm a contract entered into with someone at the age of majority. In other words, a child can void a contract or bid because the child is under the age of 18. A minor can enter into any contract that is not prohibited by law. An adult who enters into a contract with a minor cannot recind a contract made with a minor. Illegal contracts are considered void.

What is minimum age to get liability insurance for a painting job?

AnswerI think most states will not allow a minor to enter into a contract until they are eighteen, but check with an insurance agent in your area.Really most states will allow persons of any age to enter into contracts, the question is whether the contract will be enforceable against a minor, should the minor breach. Many times the contract won't be enforceable against the minor. That is why many insurance companies would not write a professional liability policy for a minor, since the minor could breach and then the company wouldn't be able to collect their premiums. But if the insurance company is willing to take the risk, that is up to them.Of course, some states may have laws prohibiting minors from entering into contract altogether, and some states may have laws which prohibit minors from entering into contracts for insurance coverage.
