Loktak Lake

It is the largest freshwater lake in India with an area of 287 sq. km. (111 sq. mile).

It has a catchment area of 980 sq. km (380 sq. mile).

It is also called the only Floating lake in the world due to the floating phumdis(heterogeneous mass of vegetation, soil, and organic matters at various stages of decomposition) on it.

It is located near Moirang in Manipur state, India at an elevation of 768.5 m.
