It is usually a wheel bearing that does this, one or more of your wheel bearings is worn out. When you apply the brakes they set the wheel hub off balance and therefore the wheel drags because of the bearing being so worn. To check this take the wheel rim off and try and rock the wheel hub, if it feels loose or it makes sound, your bearing is worn and you would have to replace it, this is quite a difficult job if you don't have the right tools though. A worn wheel bearing can also put strain on your Power Steering system if it is a front wheel bearing that is worn.

How can I ensure that my vehicle's transmission is protected from damage caused by engine braking?

To protect your vehicle's transmission from damage caused by engine braking, you can use lower gears when going downhill instead of relying solely on engine braking. This helps reduce the strain on the transmission and prevents overheating. Additionally, avoid prolonged periods of engine braking and consider using a transmission cooler for added protection. Regular maintenance and fluid checks are also important to ensure the transmission is in good condition.

Your 1982 Mercedes 280ce front brakes are dragging after you replaced both pads you used a metalliccomposite pad for this change the dragging occurs after numerous braking application pads are on rig?

Ok i had the same problem, i did also use the metal composite brake pads, not a good choice they caused the brake calipers to over heat then lock up. the fluid got overheated then failed. drain all of the fluid put on non metallic pads the reservice and bleed your brakes. If no damage was done to the calipers you should be ok. other wise you will have to replace them. good luck.

How can you tell the difference between relay solenoid or starter going bad in a Mercury Sable - Ford Taurus?

A starter will seldom "go bad", but when it does, you will definitely hear a "grinding" or "dragging" noise as it rotates (usually is slow to rotate). That condition is called "starter dragging", caused by worn bushings. When the bushings wear, the starter will drag against the armature inside the starter hull, causing the slow rotation and "dragging" or "grinding" sound. A single click when you try to start the vehicle is usually indicative of a faulty starter relay/solenoid. Or possibly just a loose cable. A rapid clicking sound is usually caused by a low battery. Could also be caused by a loose cale.
