- First, Goliath had four brothers and David was preparing to take out the entire family.
- Second, five in biblical numerology represents Grace. Thus, David faced Goliath with Grace.
- Third, David carried the Name of Jesus (J-e-s-u-s) with him, based on the old song, "Take the Name of Jesus With You".

∙ 11y agoThe Scripture states that David picked up five nameless smooth stones (1 Samuel 17:40), but it was just 'astone', not multiple stones, which killed Goliath and not his decapitating him with his own sword as some believe:
1 Samuel 17:49-51

49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung itand struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. 50So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.
Repeating that he killed him and cut off his head is the decisive sign to all that the challenger was indeed dead. The surrounding armies could not ascertain otherwise. It filled the Philistines with terror.
