The Lange Foundation. It is a WONDERFUL program. You give a gift and save an animal's life--and your gift recipient gets a lovely card with a picture of the animal whose life was saving in their honor. We now use it as our default birthday, Christmas, etc. gift. I cannot say enough about it.
There are a couple of places to donate to animal rescue charities in Alberta, Canada. Such organizations as the Alberta animal rescue, The Calgary Humane Society and Angel's dream small animal rescue would welcome any donation.

Really any animal can be a rescue from turtles and raccoons to horses and cows.
Many animal shelters and rescue groups offer pet adoption. Additionally, online pet adoption is becoming more popular. Some websites of organizations which offer pets for adoption are: Adopt a pet, Hope for Paws, Animal Adoption, Jaxtara, Pet Rescue or you can find one on Pet Finder.
PETCO itself does not have pets for adoption, they sponsor local rescue organizations and hold adoption clinics for the rescue groups. Fees depend on the rescue group, all of them ask different amounts to adopt, but generally they are not free. The fee they ask goes towards the vet bills that they paid to get the animal healthy.
I believe it is a non-profit organization.
how can I find adoption shelter or rescue in nj. that has reasonable prices?
There are many animal shelters and rescue places within the city of Los Angeles. Look up your Yellow Pages and find which SPCA, Animal Hospital, or pet adoption agency is closest to your part of the city.
It depends on what rescue organization they are in. Many rescue groups and some shelters have no-kill policies. Others will euthanize a dog, with each shelter having its own guidelines.
I do not believe that there are any animal rescues where you don't have to pay an adoption fee. The adoption fee serves a very important purpose, it helps to pay for the care that was given to the animal while it was with the rescue. These expenses include the cost to fix the animal, the price of vaccinations, as well a food and whatever other medical expenses may come up along the way. A rescue never takes in as much as they give out and if the rescue is a certified nonprofit organization you can rest assured that all your money is going to go into the care and keeping of more animals. Also the price you are going to be paying for a animal rescue group is going to be much less than the cost of buying a purebred dog or cat from a breeder and you can feel secure in the knowledge that you aren't supporting puppy mills and you are not contributing to the pet overpopulation problem.

The North Shore Animal League only adopts out cats and dogs. In addition to adoption services, the North Shore Animal League specializes in pet rescue.
It depends on the animal you are interested in. I would suggest contacting an animal rescue organization that handles the animal kinds you are interested in and ask them how to get started.
The services that are currently offer by the humane society are animal rescue and adoption as well as checking into the well being of animals in that jurisdiction.
