What is the positive and negative aspects of the British influence in India?

Negative, of course. Anytime a civilized nation rules another civilized nation,

the outcome is always negative. If the Indians wanted it, they would not

have asked for independence, right? The British controlled a lot of the modern world at the time, and exploited the people and resources, very much like modern day America.

It is not only negative as the British brought in a lot of things that otherwise would have here in India.

Yes. Telegraphs, infrastructure (roads, bridges, railroads), and electricity were brought to India by the British. Other benefits included increases in sanitation, modern buildings, et cetera. Proof of these benefits can be found even today in the importance of Indian rail, a parlaimentary-type government, and the fact that British-era buildings and architecture still dominate most of the cities in India. Many areas of India that were under direct British control are much more advanced than the former Princely States.

Overall detrimental to India, Many social /superstitious practices , Safety for Life, Effective administration, development common to the country..etc was addressed,

inequality, denying natives in top administrative roles, non-consideration of native feedback for development , racism, Tax burdens, economic loots etc... never has any colonization ruled or benefited the native..

Over many many centuries ..what India was..its originality, its acquired knowledge, its wealth, its power..everything was lost in the mere 300 years of brit rule..SAD...
