Well, Pokemon is a franchise about people who live in a world with strange creatures that love to battle. Some people capture these creatures, known as Pokemon. Some use them in battles against other people recreationally, and some battle competitively. Some people use them for criminal purposes. Some enter contests with them, showing off their beauty, strength, and other qualities. Currently there are 495 known Pokemon. Before February of 2010, there were 493, but there were two more "discovered" (released to the public). These two new Pokemon are Zoroark and its pre-evolution, Zorua. There are different regions of the Pokemon world, like our countries. There is Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. These are the regions featured in the classic style Pokemon game, where you take the role of a trainer heading off on their adventure to catch them all. There are Orre, Fiore, Almia, Oblivia, and GB Island 1 and 2. Additionally, there is Stadium Island, White City, and Poketopia. These places are the settings of games like, Pokemon Colleseum, Pokemon Ranger, the Pokemon Trading Card Game (for the Game Boy), and Pokemon Stadium.
