Queen Victoria's coronation was in 1838, so presumably the name refers to the coronation of Edward VII in 1902. The fictional Coronation Street in Weatherfield was originally to have been called Florizel Street: it was changed becaue it was thought that sounded too much like some kind of disinfectant that's put down the loo!

∙ 13y agoThe show was originally going to be called "Florizel Street", but Agnes, a tea lady on set, said "Florizel" sounded too much like a detergent. Thus, it was changed from Florizel Street to Coronation Street.
