It didn't. It was renewed for a second season. Shows that flop don't get renewed.
Some new and highly rated television shows include series like Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and Rome. Other new shows with good reviews are Pushing Daisies and Shameless. There are many quality programs available to fit many different tastes.
Cartoon Network rarely provides reasons for why their shows end but if the show isn't ended by its creator it's safe to assume the show ended for the same reason other cancelled shows end. The ratings weren't high enough to justify the cost of producing new episodes.
Because it is a lot cheaper to recycle old (and I do mean old) shows from Food or HGTV than it is to broadcast new shows.
Yes the show was canceled back in 1997. I remember reading many years ago that a few things contributed to this. Actor Ed O'Neill (Al Bundy) was the highest paid TV actor at the time, but also, ratings were going down fast, and the sex jokes were getting old and tired. It was on the air for 11 seasons . So basically, wages, ratings, and lack of original jokes is what I read caused the demise.
Because it was not getting good enough ratings.

Nickelodeon didn't (& usually doesn't) give reasons WHY they cancel shows, but it can be assumed it was canceled for the same reason most shows get canceled. The ratings did not justify the cost of producing new episodes.
