Nightly news is no different from regular daytime news. Every network that has a news program is usually biased towards one side or the other, some more than others. Let me make this simple for you.

TIER 1- Most Biased- Do not go to for accurate news. These networks thrive on entertainment over journalism, and are held up by the radical viewpoints of their Demographics

  1. MSNBC
    1. MSNBC is the antithesis of Fox News. They are extremely liberal and do not go to any lengths to cover it up by selecting outwardly liberal news anchors. This could easily qualify as the go-to network for left-wing bias. Hosts such as Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann are the most notable anchors from this station and are very liberally opinionated. They critique conservatives without any restraint.
    1. Fox News, although claiming to be "Fair and Balanced", is anything but. All of their hosts are extremely conservative, and (simply by watching interviews between two people from different political stances), the liberal guest is often interrupted and given loaded questions. The case is pretty much the same with MSNBC, however. Hosts such as Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, and others rarely go out of their way to mask up any partisanship in their constant critiquing of liberals.
  2. Fox News

TIER 2- Slightly biased- Good for news on occasion, although some slant may be noticed.

  1. CNN
    1. CNN does exhibit a slightly liberal slant on occasion, but for the most part guest speakers are given their due time when they are brought on.
    1. As with CNN, slightly liberal lean, but only because they tend to bring on more liberal guests than conservatives.
  2. CBS
    1. NPR is biased, but only because conservatives just tend to stray from the network. NPR stands for "National Public Radio", which is a taxpayer-funded radio station in which nobody who wants to have a show can be turned away because of political standpoint. Because of conservatives' belief in an extremely small public sector, this is the reason they strayed away from the network.
  3. (Bonus!) NPR

TIER 3- Unbiased

  1. C-Span
    1. Unfortunately, this network goes way under-watched (in my opinion). What makes C-Span great is that a majority of their coverage comes straight from the source (congress, the senate, etc) with minimal interpretation given by their hosts. If you are really into politics and are able to form your own interpretation, the best place to go is right here. You get to hear exactly what the politicians are saying, completely unfiltered. The only downside is that it can be extremely boring, i.e. coverage of the latest Ohio State senate bill regarding an increase in local road spending for county roads x, y, and z, blah blah blah. When the big issues come up (for example, the inevitable Florida legislative review of the Stand Your Ground law as a result of the Trayvon Martin shooting), you'll get full-length viewpoints on the issue from both sides of the political spectrum (Florida Repubs and Dems) with little or no filtering of the details.

Hope this helped!
