Nerophobia, which is the fear of water. For the grandfather of the King of the Winged Monkeys had once dropped a finely dressed young man named Quelala in the river. The experience ruined the youth's expensive silks and velvets. The good-humored youth treated the dunking as a joke, but his fiancee, Princess Gayelette of the North, didn't. Instead, the Princess planned to have the monkeys dropped, with their wings tied, in the same river. Quelala objected, because he didn't want his prankster friends to drown. So Gayelette instead obliged the monkeys to carry out three wishes for the wearer of the Golden Cap, which was a wedding present to her future husband. Quelala's command was for the monkeys to stay out of his wife's sight, and therefore safe from vengeful thoughts. Unfortunately, the cap ended up in the hands of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The Golden Cap of the Wicked Witch of the West is what Glinda wants from Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz."Specifically, Glinda the Good seeks the cap for five reasons. The first through third reasons are in order to call the Winged Monkeys and have them transport the Tin Woodman to the Winkie Country, the Scarecrow to the Emerald City, and the Cowardly Lion to the Great Forest. The fourth reason is in order to return it to the Winged Monkeys, who therefore will be free for evermore of anyone's control. The fifth reason is in exchange for telling Dorothy Gale how to get back to Kansas.
