I think Naruto will be stronger in both Naruto and Naruto Shippuden because he has the nine tailed fox inside him. Altogether there are nine animals with tails like the kyuubi such as the sanbi(3 tails) and the hachibi(8 tails). Gaara's animal inside him only has one tail so Shukaku (the one tailed tankuki) is the weakest out of the nine animals. Naruto will die if the nine tailed fox reaches 9 tails or if the akatsuki like Itachi suck the power out like what they did with Gaara except Gaara was saved by Granny Chiyo. Though Naruto before the Chunin Exams wouldn't stand a chance against Gaara pre-Chunin Exams.

They aren't related through family if that's the related you are looking for. But if you mean related like how are they alike then they are both (or were Jinchurikis. Also they both have no parents, have been alone most their lives, so on and so on but everything has to do with them both have tailed demon sealed inside of them. SPOILER: Gaara got his one tailed shukaku taken out by the akatsuki so. . .they aren't really alike like that anymore.

"Stick together - " Naruto: "I can't take this!" "I know why they're after Gaara and me." "Sakura-Chan, you know why, too, don't you?" "Inside of me…" "The Kyuubi is sealed inside of me." Well around the beginning, he is Kazekage of the sand village, but the aukatski kidnap gaara and plan to KILL him. GHaara fights Diedara and gets kidnapped. Kankuro tries to stop them but gets poisoned. the akatsuki dont plan to kill their just take out the demon which in turn would kill him(even though he dies chiyo gives her life to bring him back)

Does the seven tailed host die Naruto?
Yes. Although we never see the Jinjuriki in the manga or anime, it is mentioned in the manga that there are only two Jinjurikis left. They are of course Naruto the nine tailed fox and Killer Bee who has the eight tailed ox; which is half octopus. The only demons we see that Akatsuki got are Gaara (1 tailed demon Raccoon), Yugito Nii (2 tailed demon cat), and the 3 tailed demon turtle in which we haven't learned the hosts name.
