The South African Police Service use various systems throughout the country.

They are using an ETSI Tetra network operating in the 380MHz to 400MHz in the Gauteng Province. In Cape Town they use an older Motorola Smartzone network in the 406MHz-420MHz range.

The Eastern Cape is currently being upgraded to a similar system as in Gauteng.

The remainder of the country use conventional analog radio operating between 406MHz and 420MHz.

Their aim is to implement Tetra across the country in the near future.
