the resolution is, Johnny wants to come back to town and turn themselves in, predicting they would be let off easy in court, when dally (dallas) refuses to let them come back, they head back to the church and see that it is on fire, They soon find out that children are trapped inside. All ponyboy can think about is "we set that church on fire with out cigarette's" so he immediate runs into the burning church to try to rescue the children... forgetting that 16 year old Johnny cade was close behind. the two make it into the church and successfully rescue the children, After all the children are out, Ponyboy makes it out too, but falling timber falls on johnny breaking his back, and leaving him with 3rd degree burns, he dies in the hospital. Right before he dies the greasers had won the huge "rumble" with the greasers vs socs. they go back to the hospital to find johnny in his death bed saying his last words... at the sight of this young Dally (dallas) Winston loses it and robs a store knowing the police would be immediately after him, he called up the gang to meet him in the park. they do so. in the park dally pulls out his fake gun and pretends to shoot at the police... knowing they would shoot back. They shoot young dallas Winston to the ground,dead, with his gang by his side.
