In the rumble, Darry first took on Paul Holden, the leader of the Socs. The confrontation was intense, as both leaders represented their respective groups, with tensions running high between the Greasers and the Socs. Darry's strong determination to protect his friends and prove their strength was evident in this pivotal moment.
Paul. they were best friends but that was obviously before all this.
i think that ponyboy feels a little awkward and scared by tthe socs because he starts to walk fast and eventually gets threatened to be killed and gets jumped over.
The Socs live on the west side, the greasers on the east.
Hi, The only two Socs members that I know of a Randy and Bob
Darry was not really jealous per say. I think the only thing he was jealous about was because the socs have the easy life. Their parents are not only alive, but pay for their schooling such as college. Darry can not have that because he has to work two jobs and support his brothers. Darry had to give up dream of going to college so that why I think he is jealous. As for the ashamed part, Darry had to fight some of his old friends, who are socs. He was probably ashamed because he realizes he might have acted like a stuck up person like the socs when he hung out with them and played football with them. That all came to end when Darry's parents died. So basically Darry might have saw the way he acted before and he does not like what he sees.
