As a young woman she was in several light weight movies...musicals. She sang and danced. It was a very short career. She was a talented singer, violinist, and pianist, and she learned comedic timing from Jack Benny, who promoted her career in the U.S. after she had had success in her native Canada. She had a big hit with the song "Hard to Get" in 1955. She appeared on Your Hit Parade and was especially good at performing hits with a comedy aspect. Like most traditional singers, her career was overwhelmed by the rock revolution.
