Some sources, especially those who oppose his anti-war views, have claimed Michael Moore is a "Truther" (someone who believes the Bush administration was somehow responsible for 9/11, that it was an "inside job"). But this is not what Moore himself has said in interviews. While Moore was (and remains) a harsh critic of the Bush Administration and used movies like "Fahrenheit 9/11" to express his outrage at the War in Iraq (which he believed was an illegitimate war), he has not asserted that Osama bin Laden was innocent. Rather, he has focused on what happened after Al Qaeda's attack on America. Moore believes that the Bush administration used 9/11 for its own political aims, and that the American media provided support for an invasion of Iraq, rather than being skeptical about Bush's claims.

Moore did offer controversial remarks about even Osama deserving a fair trial. For the most part, however, Moore has avoided aligning himself with the Truthers. He continues to be staunchly anti-war, and strongly critical of President Bush, a man he believes won the presidency by questionable means. Moore has also continued to oppose the war in Iraq, as well as the war in Afghanistan.
