∙ 11y agoFollowing Rome's victories over Carthage and the Greek allies of Carthage, there were problems that many kingdoms and "wanna be" empires would be glad to have. After the demise of Carthage and Rome's conquest of Greek areas in the Eastern Mediterranean, the main problem was what to do with all the wealth and power it had attained. Of course one could say a problem was "how to protect its war gotten gains". History tells us that Rome had yet to begin to stretch its empire to even greater lengths. ancient Rome' s real problems developed centuries later when it had to do all it could to keep its empire.

∙ 10y agoThe destruction of Carthage was the result of the third and final Punic war. However the term "destruction" should be taken in a wide sense, as the city itself was huge and the Romans would certainly not spend their time and resources actually destroying it. Rather, they enslaved many of the people, put to death the leaders of the revolt , imposed monetary penalties, and scattered salt around the gates and walls of the city as a symbol of Carthage's destruction.
