This term was correctly code-named to the XB-70 supersonic six-engined bomber used by the U. S. A.F. in experimental role only. It was made by North America and had General Electric jet engines with afterburners. Only three were built and one was written-off in a fatal crash. The project was canceled shortly after that. Valkyrie in popular use is a Female Viking and a Viking war-goddess. On the other hand Operation Valkyrie- the subject of a current film, was the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler in July of 1944. It failed miserably.

To add more detail, Lt. Colonel Count Claus Schenk von Stauffenberg made three attempts on Adolf Hitler's life all of which failed; his first tries were all derailed by the missing presence of two other high ranking Nazi officers.

His final attempt on 20 July 1944 took place at a conference held at Hitler's villa the Berghof wherein he carried a time bomb hidden in his briefcase. Taking his seat and placing the bomb under the map table Stauffenberg managed to leave the room under rouse of a telephone call. However, the officer who took Stauffenberg's seat noticed his briefcase and pushed it further under the table, changing the direction and force of the explosion.

Some speculate that the large map table being used was made up of many small attachments and this changed how the blast affected the table, leading to only minor injury for Adolf Hitler.

Also, to clarify, in Norse mythology the Valkyrie is typically seen as a battle maiden charged by Odin to collect the souls of those who had died in noble battle to fight on the side of the Aesir during Ragnarok.
