I think there will be a twist. If you remember the episode about the Russo's aunt and uncle, you will remember that their aunt is an artist, and their uncle is the wizard and their dad owns the subshop. Their dad had won the wizard competition and gave his powers to his brother to be with Teresa. Alex is good at art, Justin is really smart, and Max is just Max. I think either Alex or Justin will win and give their powers to Max. Perhaps Alex and Mason will find another way to be together besides her keeping her powers.

Justin ends up winning, but right before he accepts the powers he says that he got trapped in some vines or something and Alex should have won but she stayed to help him. Alex gets the power. Then Professor Crumbs declares that he's resigning and he wants Justin to take over because of his act of bravery so he becomes a wizard too. Then since Max got nothing, his dad says that he can inherit the sub shop.

It's nice because Alex and Justin have magical "mates" and Max has a human one. What happened to her though? She disappeared

They have their Russo family competition. When harder and zeke have a problem at the layer they go to the arena but zeke gets captured by a dragon. So Alex max Justin and harped go to save him but when they come back their time has run out so they are out of the competition. The three Russos dnt speak to each other until they find out that the subway is closing down because they can't work as a family anymore. So they work together to keep it open and as they realise they are ok without powers they get moved to the arena where they find out it was all a test to see if they could stick together. Afterwards Justin wins and just as he is about to get his full powers he stops and confesses that he cheated and Alex was the true winner. But after Alex got her powers, professor crumbs says that Justin is the new headmaster of wiz tech and he too has full powers. So jerry gives max the subway and they are all happy.
