When can baby watch cartoons?

Babies like the color of Cartoons, and the movement and sounds. But parents and carers also tend to turn on cartoons for small children, so while babies might quite happily watch some autumn leaves on threads, dancing in the breeze from a window, if they're put in front of a television screen, that's what they're going to watch.

Remember, babies and small children don't have much choice in entertainment. When it comes to toys and food and so on, they get what adults buy. So manufacturers and advertisers always make products with the aim of selling them to adults, not babies.

It's the same with pet foods. No dog or cat eats food because there's a cute picture of a contented pet on the package; their owner bought the pack because, apart from other considerations, it looked attractive.

This isn't a bad thing: it's how you make a living.

But, perhaps before deciding a baby needs to watch any television or play with any plastic toy, they could be given other (safe) things to look at and play with - some things that cost nothing can be priceless.

It is better for children to limit exposure to TV, IPADs and such things...there is so much for them to learn in life. Part of the issue is that children can be "babysat" by TV and end up being inactive for too much of their day, passively watchning.
