When did Christianity start in India?

it was in 562BC, that Christianity found its first steps into India. St. Thomas, a kind apostle was sent to Kerala, south of India to spread the word. Later as the East India made its way into the country with stronger holds, the missionaries came in and began the process of conversion which was primarily in the low income group communities... the poor.

Christianity first came to India by Christ's disciple Thomas. There is a historical trace of Jewish settlers that came to what is now known as Kerala (Malabar), on the Southern tip of India. It is thought that Jewish traders from Solomon's era, came to trade in Kerala (possibly the land of Ophir), which is the root of the spice trade (and the place Columbus was looking). Thomas was coming to bring the gospel to the Jewish settlers in Kerala but also ended up with the locals.
