Officially, it was during the reign of King Edward VII, from 1901 to his death in 1910. When the Titanic sank it was in 1912, when George V was King, so it wasn't actually in the Edwardian period but just post-Edwardian.
In 1946, King George VI was on the throne in Britain. He became king in 1936 after the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII. George VI's reign saw the country through World War II and the subsequent post-war recovery. His leadership played a significant role in stabilizing the nation during a challenging period.
It doesn't look like it will happen any time soon. Ever since Martin died in 1995, fans have petitioned for him to be on a commemorative US stamp, and there is certainly precedent for it-- in 2008, his friend and fellow vocalist Frank Sinatra was put on one, and other entertainers have been honored in this way too. But it's a very competitive process, and it's difficult to predict who will or won't get put on a stamp. Thus far (in 2016), Martin is not on one, but of course, that could change.
King Kong was released first, debuting in 1933, while Godzilla made its cinematic debut later, in 1954. King Kong, created by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, became an iconic figure in monster films, while Godzilla was introduced by Toho Studios as a symbol of post-war Japan. Both characters have since become cultural icons in their own right.
