1018 BC "The king and his men marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites, who lived there. The Jebusites said to David, "You will not get in here; even the blind and the lame can ward you off." They thought, "David cannot get in here." Nevertheless, David captured the fortress of Zion-which is the City of David."

In The Bible the exact day and time in which David became king of Isa real is not at all mentioned, as their calenders were very different to us. But one thingis very certain David the son of Jesse was chosen by God to be king. And God told the prophet Samuel to anoint him as the new king.

Another answer: according to Talmudic chronology, David was anointed around 2890 years ago.

A:The Bible says that David reigned for 40 years and was succeeded by his son, Solomon, who reigned for 40 years. Solomon was succeeded by his son, Rehoboam. The Bible then says that Pharaoh Shishak attacked Judah in the fifth year of Rehoboam's reign.

An Egyptian commemorative stele has been found confirming the attack on Judah, which Egyptian records reliably place at 925 BCE. We can therefore date backwards to place the beginning of David's reign at 1010 BCE.

A minor problem with the biblical account, and therefore with this dating method, is the rather too convenient period of exaclty 40 years for both David and Solomon, a period also associated with all but one of the major judges of Israel. At the very least, these periods should be suspect, in which case the year in which David became king is also open to doubt.

A more serious problem arises out of the archaeological record. The evidence shows that the population of Judah was too small to dominate the much more prosperous northern region of Israel. The consensus of most scholars is that there probably was no United Monarchy as described in the Bible. Many are now questioning whether David really was a king in the traditional sense, and believe he was simply a local chieftain or warlord, with an ill-defined territory around Jerusalem.

David ruled at Hebron seven and a half years before moving his capital, at Jehovah's direction, to the captured Jebusite stronghold, Jerusalem. There he built the City of David on Zion and continued to rule another 33 years. (2Sa 5:4-10; 1Ch 11:4-9; 2Ch 6:6)
