about every 4 or 5 years.

Yep, Federally every 5 years, max, but the rub is the ruling party can call an election any time they want. This was abused by the Liberal party many times in the 20th century and was one of the tactics they used to rule for most of the century.
There have been many requests and attempts to change that. The most popular idea is a fixed election date every 4 years. The problem is getting that changed. It would have to be supported by the very party in power and who votes to reduce their own power?
We also still have a Liberal party and they still have dreams of regaining power and as a result are not yet supportive of removing power from the ruling party.
The minimum length of a campaign is 36 days. The maximum varies, however the Elections Act sets some restrictions and requirements.
We don't have a president. Our prime ministers term is 4 years, unless they decide to cut it short or it is cut short by a non-confidence vote.
There are no elections in Canada. They are ruled by a self appointed grand chancellor.

Consecutive federal elections are elections that occur back-to-back; all elections are consecutive unless they are unprecedented or abolished after being held once. Usually, the term is used in the context of election victories. If a party wins consecutive federal elections, it has won several elections without interruption. For example, in Canada, the Progressive Conservative Party won the federal election of 1984 and was re-elected at the next election in 1988. It thus won consecutive federal elections.
