Fishing season in Ottawa Ontario Canada is open year round. The fishing season for sports fish is set by ministry of Natural Resources. For the Ottawa area you are interested in Fisheries Management Zone 18 (FMZ-18). The seasons for sports fish by species (some for the more popular ones) for 2013:

Walleye Jan. 1 to Mar. 1 & 2nd Sat. in May to Dec. 31

Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass 3rd Sat. in June to Dec. 15

Northern Pike Jan. 1 to Mar. 31 & 2nd Sat. in May to Dec. 31

Muskellunge 1st Sat. in June to Dec. 15

Yellow Perch Open all year

Crappie Open all year

Sunfish Open all year
