after you use the action replay, darkrai will come alive and effect him after you talk to the sailor. the only way you can stop this from happening is if you get a feather from cresselia at crescent moon island.

Then you go talk to the sailor and he will take you to New Moon Island. That is where you first see Cresselia and you get the (sorry) thing that will disband the Darkrai nightmare on the sailors son.
