Whatever hemisphere you live in, the opposite (N/S) is experiencing the opposite season. So if it is fall in the northern hemisphere then all below the equator is experiencing spring.

Japan is in the northern hemisphere and New Zealand is in the southern hemisphere, therefore their seasons are opposite. When it is winter for one, it is summer for the other.
If you're in the northern hemisphere, the same as you. If you're in the southern hemispere, the opposite of you. ie Spring at the moment
