- Ignoring the absurd internet rumors, there does not appear to be a concrete reason PBS cancelled Barney.
- It's possible it was partially due to the fact that after 10 years, the actor who played Barney, David Joyner, wanted to move to L.A. and become a S.A.G. performer.
- Most likely though, it was cancelled for the same reason every show usually ends. The ratings did not justify the money PBS was putting into producing new episodes.
