The Atlas Mountains are the largest mountain range in Africa and is actually made up of small chains of different ranges.

It is mostly grassland, and no trees, although the middle range of the mountains seem to be heavily forested.

The few people that live there are natives called "Berbers".

The mountain range has mineral deposits such as rock salt, gold, lead, anthracite coal, petroleum, silver, zinc, phosphorus, antimony, marble, Mercury, iron and magnesium.

The entire range covers about 1.7 million acres of land.

Some interesting animals you would find while trekking would include Barbary Lions (now extinct in the wild), jackals, buffalos, monkeys, zebras, elands, the Barbary Leopard, hyenas, elephants (the North African elephant is now extinct), capybaras, rhinos, and wildebeests.
