Yes, AlumaSeal is an effective product for sealing leaks in radiators, engine blocks, and other metal surfaces. It contains aluminum particles that create a strong seal when heated, making it a popular choice for quick repairs. However, while it can provide a temporary fix, it's essential to follow up with a permanent repair when possible, as AlumaSeal may not withstand extreme conditions over the long term.
first determine where the leak is at if its a hose then replace the hose but if its somewhere you cant locate try bar's leak or alumaseal found at and parts store
The easiest and best way to fix it is to pull the intake manifold and replace the rubber grommet. The only other option is to try some alumaseal and hope for the best. Those grommets get hard and brittle after years of use. Best to do it right and be done with it.
The dash has to come out to get to the heater core. It's quite a job and this may be a job you want to hire someone else to do. The heater core in my 97 was leaking coolant so I put a small bottle of Alumaseal in the radiator. Some will say this will clog up the radiator, but I have found that not to be the case. It stopped the leak. I have had no further problems.
It's possible that one of the injectors is sticking open. Try running a good injector cleaner through with a tank of fuel. I had the same problem.. It was a leak in the heater core.. Put some alumaseal in the radiator.. I used 2 canisters of the stuff.. then reset the check engine light after a week.
You have to remove the entire dash to get to the heater core. It is a job that makes even the most experienced mechanics cringe. What is the problem. If it is not putting out warm air you can back flush it. If it is leaking put some Alumaseal in your radiator. It won't clog up your cooling system, but will stop a leak in the heater core. I think it's a couple of bucks at your auto parts store. Don't put any of that Bar's leaks in the system. It WILL clog up your radiator. Stay away from the liquid gooey kind of leak fixer. Use only Alumaeal. After putting it in let your car fully heat up and turn on the heater maximum to get it to work.
