Dally lived on the mean streets of New York City for three years before moving to Oklahoma (Ponyboy's town).
Darry did it so Ponyboy, if he stayed in school and didn't get in trouble, would have a bright future and not end up like Dally does later in the book, and would live a productive life because he knew that Ponyboy had a gift.
Either Ponyboy and/or Darry. Ponyboy is smart and can get out of the environment that he is in if he chooses to and he will if his brothers have any say in that. Darry is the same way, but since he has to and wants to care for his brothers he is stuck for the time being. Once his brothers are of age and can take care of themselves then he could do it. Also if the Curtis parents were still alive then there would have no doubt that Darry could have gotten out.
In the Outsiders, Darrel is described as Ponyboy's older brother. Darrel is usually called 'Darry' by his brothers (Ponyboy and Sodapop) and the other Greasers. Darry is in a gang called the 'Greasers' who fight with the gang on the west side of town called the 'Socs'. The Greasers live on the east side of town, and Darry is one of the toughest or 'tuffest' Greasers. *I hope that answers your question. Basically, Darry is Ponyboy's older brother. (Ponyboy is the main character who's writing the story in his journal). Thanks for reading this!*
Sodapop understands everyone, very handsome, happy easy to get along with kid. Ponyboy is an emotional, dreamer, adores Soda. Darry is a hard, cold tough, kid that stays strong for the brothers.

The Judge asked everyone but Pony about the death of Bob and stuff like that. He asked Pony if he liked school, what his grades were and if he like living with Darry. The judge dismissed the case and Soda and Pony got to live with Darry
In the book "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, Ponyboy Curtis lives in the East Side of Tulsa, Oklahoma. More specifically, he lives with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop, in a neighborhood known as the "East Side." The novel explores themes of social class and identity through Ponyboy's experiences in his community.
ponyboy wishes to live in the country, everything would change. Ponyboy wouldn't have to worry about getting jumped, Sodapop would get his horse, Mickey Mouse back, Darry would maybe be nicer, and maybe Johnny can live with them. AND most of all his parents would be allive.
The Greaser's names are: Ponyboy Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Darrel (Darry) Curtis, Dallas (Dally) Winston, Johnny Cade, Keith (Two-Bit) Mathews, and Steve Randall. By the way I love this book and the movie. RIP Johnny and Dally! Johnny will always be gold! it is some boys who are poor and live in the east side and they have long and greasy hair
