Where did Megasthanese stay in India?

Megasthanese, a contemporary of Chanakya, wrote of a 'noble emporium' where five rivers had their 'confluence', located far south of the river Indus and its very strong king who had 1,600 elephants, 150,000 infantry and 5,000 cavalry. Such a place did not seem to exist anywhere other than in the Vembanad Lake of Kerala. Five rivers from the river Periyar to river Meenachil join at this lake. As per Sankham literature (Akam. 149), location of Muchiri is on the shores of Chulli, i.e., the river Periyar. Vypin Island was formed only by 1341 CE. So in all probability the sea extended to Varapuzha Lake during the times of Megasthanese, that is, a millennium before the formation of Vypin
