Susan Eloise Hinton drew inspiration for her novel "The Outsiders" from her own experiences as a teenager in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She observed the social divides between different groups of adolescents, particularly the "Greasers" and "Socs." Hinton's desire to portray the struggles and emotions of youth led her to create a story that reflects the complexities of friendship, identity, and class conflict. Her personal experiences and observations of the dynamics among her peers significantly shaped the narrative.

When I stepped out into the light from the darkness of the movie house I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. That's the first and last line in the book (and movie). Hinton gives us this idea only in the end when it describes Ponyboy sitting down and pitching ideas then writing that line.
That sounds like a fairly novel idea; why don't you write one yourself?
Greaser Boys-slicked back with lots of gel (grease, that's where the term gresers cam from) Greaser Girls-High Pony Tails or lots of curls. If you want an idea I recommend reading the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It is about greasers.

S.E. Hinton used the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost in "The Outsiders" to convey the theme of innocence and the fleeting nature of youth. The poem emphasizes the idea that precious things, like the innocence of childhood, are temporary and cannot last forever, echoing the struggles faced by the young characters in the novel.
There is a Japanese stage production of the show which follows the story quite accurately. It is available on DVD now. There hasn't been an actual discussion for real about a movie yet but there is a petition you can sign. It's signed from all members and fans who agree on Susan Kay's novel turned into a movie or mini series. Personally I think it's a great idea!
