Where does Sahota come from?

my sister did the study of name sihota. its my maiden name. although we speell it with i. apparently the name goes back to Russia. our forefathers were Russian. Most punjabis have a Europe background and sihotas originate from Russia. i hope this helps.

In fact Punjabis do not have European background (this is false information spread by a European who misunderstood translations from books written in Sanskrit referring to fair Aryan people, furthermore the Europeans had adopted the Hindu Swastika as a symbol of the white race ?? Incorrect of course) . Punjabi people could not possibly be European due to Culture and language differences. Surely if Punjabis were European they would be inherit some link to Western culture.

It is the other way round. Europeans tried to take credit for the first civilised people/clans in the world (people were from Persian/Punjabi descent) which existed near the Indus Valley (now in Pakistan) and Iran.

Simply these people were under Persian control (Achaemenid Empire). This empire expanded to eventually rule over significant portions of the ancient world which at around 500 BCE stretched from the Indus Valley in the east (Originally in North India but now in Pakistan) , to Thrace and Macedon on the northeastern border of Greece making it the biggest empire the world had yet seen.

By 651 after the empire was overthrown by the Greek Empire these clans are understood to have fled Iran and Indus valley due to Arab invasion and the spread of Islam. Some went further East towards India. Some travelled West towards Romania ( Roma gypsy). Their religion was originally Zoroastrian.

In later years1799--1849 the Sikh empire ruled over the Indus valley up to Afganistan.

These clans where Aryan background. The true Aryan people are from one race who live across a range of countries . These are Iran, Original North India ( that includes present day Pakistan and North Indian States), Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. Basically any country ending with 'Stan' as this means Land in Persian.

The Sahota name may well exist in ex Soviet countries mentioned above i.e Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Due to migration and trade, e due to no restrictions of borders.

It is true that the original Sahotas had fair skin and eye colour. This has today changed due to intermarrying between Punjabi people from Aryan descent and the original Indian farming communities.
