a speed sensor tells the vehicle computers how fast the vehicle is going, and also possibly operates the speedometer. If it is a wheel speed sensor it tells the anti-lock brake system how fast the individual wheel is turning and activates the anti-lock brakes in case of a skid.

It is bolted into the top/back of the transmission. It is held in by a single 10mm bolt. It is an Electonic VSS so there will be a wire harness to disconnect.

It is easiest to get to once you have removed the battery and the battery tray.

If the VSS has been in the trans for a long time...chances are it will be almost seized in there. You may need to rotate the VSS (after you have that 10mm bolt out) to break it loose. It is held in there with a rubber O-ring to seal it during use.

It is directly driven off the speedo gear that is mounted to the differential inside the transmission.

Note* It is a Mazda G-series transmission. Found mainly in 90-94 Mazda Protege LX (GT = Canada) and 91-96 Ford Escort GT's. 97-03 Ford Escort ZX2's/BJ 99-03 Protege/BK 04-?? / Protege's (including MazdaSpeed varients) also share this transmission's Internals...but it is slightly different since these trans are bolted to different engines.

Sephia Axles are a 29mm Dia with a 28 Spline count. The Mazda version is a 27mm Dia with a 26 spline count. This is only due to the Sephia Differential being different.

If needed. You can swap in the Mazda/Ford transmission and use the Mazda Ford axles. It is a direct swap (remember to keep your Sephia VSS for the new transmission)

More information than was asked for...but hopefully it will help someone, someday

What does the Turbine Input Sensor do?

The Turbine Input Sensor is used by the computer to determine transmission speed. There are several back-up sensors that the computer can use in the event the Turbine Sensor fails. A failed sensor will trip the Check Engine light, but the car will still run and you can still drive it.

What does a input-turbine speed sensor circuit malfunction do?

it effects your transmission. If the input-turbine is not working properly, it will make your car transmission slip. It is very bad on your car to run it with the input turbine malfunctioning. It is not that pricey to get fixed. It costs around $260.00 with tax and labor.

Where is the turbine speed sensor located?

The exact mounting location of the turbine speed sensor will differ between brands of vehicles. The sensor will be mounted either on or just below the turbo, and will be a screw in unit with two wires.

Why LCD are faster than CRT?

LCD monitors are NOT faster than CRT's, CRT images move at the speed of light and have almost no input lag. LCDs have input lag and this is why good ones are so expensive.

Where is the Vehicle Speed Sensor which helps the pcm do transmission functions operate the speedometer and provides speed information for the cruise control and how do you replace it?

I believe it is in different places on different vehicles. The ABS speed sensor on a '04-07 Scion Xb bolts in to the knuckle assembly, and then plugs directly in to the vehicles wiring under the hood. It is held on with 1 bolt and is very simple to remove.
