When King David was confronted by Nathan the prophet in regards to his adultery and murder, Nathan used an allegorical petition for justice: 2 Samuel 12:1-4 "There were two men in one city, the one rich and the other poor. The rich man had a great many flocks and herds. But the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb which he bought and nourished; And it grew up together with him and his children. It would eat of his bread and drink of his cup and lie in his bosom, And was like a daughter to him. Now a traveler came to the rich man, And he was unwilling to take from his own flock or his own herd, to prepare for the wayfarer who had come to him; Rather he took the poor man's ewe lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him." In his role as ruler, David was outraged and declared that 2 Samuel 12:5-6 Then David's anger burned greatly against the man, and he said to Nathan, "As the Lord lives, surely the man who has done this deserves to die. He must make restitution for the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing and had no compassion." Little did David know that indeed there would be a fourfold penalty, for over time four of David's sons met an untimely death: Son #1 - unnamed - 2 Samuel 12:15-19 - died at birth Son #2 - Ammnon - 2 Samuel 13:28-29 - murdered by his half-brother Absalom Son #3 - Absalom - 2 Samuel 18:9-15 - murdered by Joab Son #4 - Adonijah - 1 Kings 2:19-25 - executed on Solomon's orders

Was the Spanish revolution violent?

You be the judge. About 500,000 people died during the Spanish Civil War. Of these, about 200,000 were combat related deaths. An additional 125,000 were the result of atrocities committed by both sides. Sounds kind of violent to me.
